A slot is also a position in a group, series or sequence, or an assignment. The term is often used in reference to jobs or other types of employment, but it can be applied to any situation in which someone or something takes on a new or different role.
In slots games, pay lines are the lines that award winning combinations when the reels stop spinning. They can run vertically, horizontally or diagonally, and some modern video slots have additional pay lines to increase the chances of winning.
